Menswear Moments: The Untouchables

Since I am an aficionado of menswear, especially classic "business formal," "Menswear Moments" from literature and film will be a regular feature here. As I mentioned below, Kevin Costner looks quite sharp in his three-piece suits in the film version of The Untouchables. The three-piecers were a signature style for Robert Stack in the television series:

The real Ness also favored them, as photographs show.

Costner wears French cuffs and cufflinks throughout the movie, as does Stack in The Scarface Mob (but not in the series itself, where he reverts to barrel cuffs). The fedoras of the era are also given plenty of screen time, although Costner is often seen carrying his hat, while Stack usually had his on (in the appropriate hat-wearing settings).
